A unique and revolutionary education to ignite and inspire the genius within

Hello and a very warm welcome. Here you will find information about our unique alternative to education for young people aged 5 – 18. Located on a beautiful property in Yarrambat, north-east of the Melbourne CBD, we offer our program within a small-group, homely environment. Our focus is on providing a truly holistic, personalised education to each young person with expert guidance and attention from our caring mentors.

At Launchpad we offer a range of programs from full educational tuition, 5 days a week and also welcome part-time students.  Our programs are flexible to suit the individual needs of each child and family.

We believe that each of us has a special calling in life, and series of trials and tests that must be faced with integrity and purpose, in order to live a satisfying and fulfilled life.

Our mission is to prepare each child for their special heroes journey.

Our commitment is to provide each child with the means necessary to discover their own personal potential. To grow in their sense of self as they understand their abilities to be lifelong learners and changers of the world.

We prepare our students to pursue their passions and their creativity through a blending of different approaches. These include state-of-the-art software, quest-like projects with real-world applications, Socratic discussions and apprenticeships. All this offered in diverse, student-centered, multi-age studios.

Launchpad is a schoolhouse for the 21st century where students are in control of their own learning.  Each child has a personalised pathway designed for them, by them, with the help of their guides and mentors.  Our curriculum is based on eight core principles that form a lifelong learning pathway.  The students become;

  • confident, responsible, independent learners
  • curious, empowered lifelong learners
  • part of a  learner driven community, with serious commitments, genuine relationships and authentic accountability.
  • Powerful critical thinkers and problem solvers
  • involved in hands on learning, real world quests and apprenticeships
  • innovators, entrepreneurs, leaders and team players

At Launchpad we focus on eight core principles for each child;

Self Mastery

Knowing and growing your unique talents, passions and purpose

Developing team, communication and relationship skills

Life Skills

Learning the 3R’s , language, living, health and happiness

Global Citizenship

Understanding nature and sustainability

Building Skills in planning, research and decision making

Exploring creativity, music, art and self expression including mindfulness and gratitude

Learning critical thinking, coding and future technology

Learning finances, entrepreneurship and resourcefulness

We focus on these principles by incorporating various modalities by encouraging students to ;

Socratic Discussions and self paced challenges equip children to be independent lifelong learners.

Hands-on Quests for Science, Entrepreneurship and the Arts prepare children for Apprenticeships and real world challenges

The Hero’s Journey, relational covenants and real world consequences transform difficult decisions into virtuous habits

We are committed to student-driven education, supported by the latest technology and cognitive science. We help each student master core skills and discover and develop his or her talents and gifts. This establishes a learning trajectory they will never outgrow.

Here at Launchpad we are a learner driven community so what this means is that students are empowered to take ownership and responsibility of their community.

We are committed to creating an intentionally diverse school and community, because we firmly believe that we all learn better in a diverse environment. We strive to support our students as they learn how to cultivate empathetic relationships that empower them to intentionally collaborate as they change the world

To do this students create and sign a Contract of Promises describing how each individual will act and the consequences for violating community rules.

Mentors encourage younger and older students to listen, affirm, set goals and hold each other accountable.

Learn to Be” badges that celebrate character and completing leadership challenges are earned as opposed to test scores.

The guides or mentors role in this 21st century learning model is to provide;

  • The latest in educational technology for self paced mastery of reading, writing and math skills
  • Deep Socratic discussions about heroes, history and self governance to hone critical thinking skills and the ability to powerfully think, write and speak.
  • Hands-on project based Quests to master the tools and skills needed to solve problems in the real world.
  • Written promises and covenants that form a tightly bound community of individuals learning to form authentic friendships and honestly resolve interpersonal problems.
